The service is provided by Invest Gambia, as part of our continued efforts in complimenting H.E. Alh Yahya A.J.J.Jammeh’s development efforts for the rapid socio-economic development of the Gambia. Therefore the service will build and strengthen the capacity of every single Gambian institution to take their fair share of global opportunities within the global market brought about by the internet revolutions of silicon valleys. The services will give Gambia a step ahead to very many African countries in times of development, trade and investments.

Commenting on initiative, Ebrahim Sanyang, Chairman of Invest Gambia added “An advance Gambia Trade, Investment, Information Services and E-commerce portal is born today; this FREE service is the biggest Gambian portal ever to be introduce on the World Wide Web. The service is now commissioned and ready for use, it has the holding capacity to operate effectively which includes a comprehensive internet security and definitely user friendly.”

He continued, “The services is open to entire Gambia; be it a fisherman who wants the global buyers to have access to their various prices, stock availability, and fish types; or to a shipping agent who will display their service provisions to targeted customers on how shipping clearance to and from Gambia can be easily and efficiently settled (including the shipping of fish stocks of the fisherman to the global buyer); or perhaps it is a doctor, pharmacist or health centre who wants to displays their efficient services to global visitors on healthcare and prescriptions availability in the country; or maybe it is a farmer or cooperative who want to display their entire harvested stocks for sale to potential global clients across the globe; or even maybe hotels want to take on an online booking from a global clients, and accept payments online; craftsmen, importers, exporters, charities, clubs, societies, event management and promoters, banks, lawyers, accountants, tour guides and operators,

On the involvement of the governments departments, Mr. Sanyang commented, “the Gambia Police Force, may wish to own their own website to display all information, notices and services vital to general public (e.g. changes to licensing fees, lost and found children information, public appeals, road traffic matters, and any other security issues; or perhaps it is Gambia Ports Authority displaying ship arrival timetables, discharge rates, port services, fees and charges and all other efficient GPA services; at the same time, Customs and Excise may decide to display their full services information vital to the public, (e.g. fees and charges, who is responsible for what, time frame on solving issues etc); or the department of Health might want to inform general public of health warning and mobilization medical and health sector personals etc; or the department of Trade might want to informed the general public of any trade related issues; perhaps the department of agriculture want to inform the national and global audiences on the set price of groundnut, cotton, sesame seed for the year etc; and finally Gambia Civil Aviation might want to set up Gambia International Airport information page regarding flight information, arrivals and departure, airport fees, taxi services, and all other vital information and services. Immigration, Forestry, Fisheries, finance, GNA, Education, Central Statistics, Local Governments & Lands, Area Councils, GIPFZA, Tourism, Navy, Embassies, Revenue, Justice, Foreign Affairs, all have excellent service provision, procedures and information that they may want to share or make available for the development of the Gambia and achievement of vision 2020. China and other ICT advance countries had to start someone for them to be where they are; why not Gambia today?  

In short, this initiative is to create a virtual republic of the Gambia online that is capable to use the internet to compete and benefit from all the opportunities that the global community has to offer. Its successful implementation will give Gambia very many advantages over her regional neighbors on socioeconomic development strides.
